Did everyone else's kids watch the entire inauguration start to finish and do nothing but inauguration handouts, worksheets, obama fact games, etc. at school today? I am not opposing it all, just really surprised because I don't think I EVER heard about inauguration day in my years of schooling. Very interesting.

actually, even at the hawaiian language preschool for 18months-3 year olds all the teachers and parents were talking about it while the kids kinda just played the whole time.... true story :)
also, you are right. this day has never been a big deal to me and i am embarrassed to admit that i hadnt even heard much about it until this year... like i knew they were sworn in or whatever, but beyonce wasnt vying to sing for george w..... maybe that's why we are hearing about it so much now!
I think our kid's teachers talked about it, but that is it. No papers or anything. Yesterday was probably the most that I watched it too. Even though I didn't vote for Obama, I am hopeful because he does seem like he might really change things, but who knows. I do like that our country seems excited about their president. I like that better than everyone hating him because that seemed kind of crazy. That all could change though.:-)
Logan came home with a craft and said that they watched it on TV. I thought it was kind of random but Logan liked the craft :)
We watched about 10 minutes of it before running out the door to swim lessons. That night, Little Hema says in his prayers " Bless President Monson, bless President Eyring, bless President Uchtdorf and bless President Obama." I just smiled. They catch on quickly!! And he certainly does need our prayers too! I'll wait to explain the difference between the presidents another day!
I remember watching the inauguration of President Carter in elementary school, but teachers really went all out this time. I thought it was interesting that around 2 million people attended the inauguration and not one arrest was made. Could we really be headed toward more peaceful times? I hope so.
